How often do you test our backups?

Backup jobs are monitored every day, and failed jobs get investigated the same day. On top of that, we run scheduled restore tests where we actually recover real files, mailboxes, or full servers and verify the results, then document what we found. The schedule depends on how critical each system is, which we agree on during planning. A backup that has never been restored is a hope, not a plan, so testing is built into the service, not an add-on.

What do RTO and RPO mean, in plain English?

RTO (recovery time objective) is how long you can afford to be down before it seriously hurts, hours or days. RPO (recovery point objective) is how much recent work you can afford to lose, the gap between your last backup and the moment things broke.
